APSU business fraternity wins fourth Best Chapter of the Year award
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. 鈥 Earlier this month, business students at a few major universities were feeling optimistic. Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity chapters at the University of Alabama, the University of Mississippi, Vanderbilt University and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, were all vying to be named the best chapter in the southern region. For the last three years, the Austin Peay State University chapter had earned this top distinction, and those optimistic other schools didn鈥檛 think the Governors could win a fourth time in a row.
But a sense of d茅j脿 vu pervaded the southern region鈥檚 yearly meeting in Atlanta earlier this month when the APSU chapter was again named 鈥淐hapter of the Year.鈥
鈥淚 told our members to be humble, but for us to win four years in a row was a bit crazy,鈥 Matthew Kilpatrick, chapter advisor, said.
The APSU Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity was founded in 1965, making it one of the older organizations on campus. This year, the club has around 40 members who participate in numerous outreach activities and collegiate business competitions and host lectures for APSU students.
鈥淣etworking is one of the big reasons people join,鈥 Kilpatrick said. 鈥淲e also help students develop their professional skills. We have successful alumni come back and speak. And, a really good factor in our success is we have our business faculty behind us as well.鈥
