Army ROTC (Reserve Officers' Training Corps) is a college program that trains students to become officers in the U.S. Army while they earn their degree. Participants gain leadership skills, can receive scholarships to help pay for college, and commit to serve as Army officers after graduation. It’s open to U.S. citizens who meet academic, physical, and moral standards, and students can try it out with no obligation during their first two years.

Austin Peay's ROTC program, known as the Governor's Guard, has an outstanding reputation for producing strategic and inspirational leaders.

“I knew I needed to advance myself after leaving the military, and my best friend received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from APSU and spoke very highly of the institution and its psychology department. Since I’ve been here, I’ve found I like the friendly and accepting environment the most; the faculty and staff that I have worked with have been very approachable and caring.â€

“I recommend anyone that’s looking into healthcare and more specifically nursing, to give it a shot and follow your dreams. Everything’s going to work out in the end.â€
