The William E. & Sadako S. Newton Military Family Resource Center—located at 426 College St., next to Johnny’s Big Burger—is Tennessee’s largest military student center and a welcoming hub for all Austin Peay students. This 5,300-square-foot facility provides military-affiliated students—including active-duty, veterans, reservists, National Guard members, ROTC cadets, retirees, and military families—with a one-stop shop for academic, social, and career support.
All APSU students are invited to take advantage of the center’s welcoming atmosphere, resources, and services.
The Newton Military Family Resource Center features:
A computer lab with online access, a printer, and CAC readers
Dining and lounge areas for relaxing, studying, or connecting with peers
Events including educational, informational, and family-oriented programming throughout the year
Student-Peer Coaching: Staff provide guidance for navigating college and transitioning from military to civilian life
Tech for MAS calculator loan program: TI-84 Plus calculators available for APSU military-affiliated students (free, first-come, first-served per semester)
Text for Vets textbook loan program: Free semester-long textbook lending, reliant on student donations, for all APSU students (first-come, first-served)
Tutoring: One-on-one support for a variety of undergraduate courses via the Center for Academic Support & Enrichment
On-site staff and leadership: Military & Veterans Affairs division, VetSuccess on Campus Counselor, Military-Affiliated Career Specialist, Military-Affiliated Student Success Professional, and Veterans Upward Bound Academic Coordinator
