APSU commencement set for May 3-4

For the first time in University history, Austin Peay will host its spring commencement ceremonies over the course of two days – May 3-4. This arrangement will allow graduates to invite all their family members and friends to attend. APSU administrators, faculty and staff are also encouraged to attend these important events as we celebrate the new graduates for all their hard work.
Below is some helpful information regarding this year’s new, two-day commencement format.
The Ceremonies
At 10 a.m. on Friday, May 3, former Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam will address undergraduate and graduate students from the APSU College of STEM and the College of Business. Earlier this year, Haslam completed his second term as governor of Tennessee.
At 2 p.m. on Friday, May 3, U.S. Rep. Mark Green will speak to undergraduate and graduate students from APSU’s College of Behavioral and Health Sciences. During that ceremony, APSU ROTC students will also be commissioned as officers in the U.S. Army. Last November, Green was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives for Tennessee’s seventh congressional district.
At 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, Tennessee State Rep. Jason Hodges will address undergraduate and graduate students from the Eriksson College of Education and the College of Arts and Letters. Earlier this year, Hodges began serving as a freshman state representative in the Tennessee General Assembly, representing District 67.
Doors to the Dunn Center will open one hour prior to the start of each ceremony for guests and graduating students to enter the facility.
Shuttles and Commencement Information
Shuttle service will be provided from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The shuttle will pick up and drop off guests at the Dunn Center, the corner of Marion and Henry streets, Pettus Park and Lot 4 on Farris and Drane streets. Special tents will be set up outside the Dunn Center May 3-4, to provide guests with information they need regarding shuttles, parking, the ceremonies or other questions they may have.
Event Etiquette
In respect for all graduates and guests, attendees are asked not to bring air horns, bells, noisemaker devices, posters or other objects that can block someone’s view or disrupt the ceremony. When the event is over, guests may meet their graduates on the front lawn of the Dunn Center.
Ceremony Webcast
Austin Peay offers a free live webcast of each commencement ceremony. A link to the webcast will be made available on the commencement web page, , within 24 hours of each ceremony.

All 17 GOVing Tuesday fundable projects were fully funded by the close of the campaign on Dec. 2--with an additional $12,000 raised beyond the goal to support Funds of Excellence across participating areas. In total, the campaign raised $75,670.36--the highest dollar amount and the greatest number of gifts in GOVing Tuesday history.
