APSU raises nearly $225,000 during third annual Govs Give online giving campaign

FAcebook(Posted April 17, 2019)

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. 鈥 Austin Peay State University recently raised $224,550 during Govs Give, the University鈥檚 third annual 72-hour online giving event. APSU alumni, friends and Clarksville community members made gifts to promote student success from noon on April 8 to noon on April 11.

The final total far surpassed the campaign goal of collecting $200,000 for the APSU colleges鈥 Funds of Excellence, athletics and student affairs. These innovation funds allow deans and directors in academic and student areas to provide students with valuable tools and hands-on learning opportunities. In the last three years, the popular campaign has raised $547,080 and recruited 349 new donors.

鈥淲e are humbled by the support that our Austin Peay family has shown for all areas of the University during this campaign,鈥 Kris Phillips, assistant vice president for University Advancement, said. 鈥淭hanks to their contributions and the efforts of our team, we reached a historic giving total and exceeded our Govs Give goal for the third year in a row. That is something to celebrate.鈥

During Govs Give 2019, any gift up to $250 received a matching amount that was designated to the donor鈥檚 area of choice. For example, a $5 gift became $10, a $250 gift became $500 and a $500 gift became $750. Generous Govs Give Champions in every area contributed to fund the matching gifts, while many companies in the area tripled their employees鈥 donations through the employee match program.
