Alumnus Louis E. Robichaux IV and Julie Robichaux create the David R. Grimmett Distinguished Professorship at APSU
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. 鈥 Austin Peay State University alumnus Louis Robichaux IV (鈥89) and his wife, Julie, recently made a generous gift to establish the David R. Grimmett Distinguished Professorship at Austin Peay State University. The check presentation for this gift was made during the Oct. 8 meeting of the APSU College of Business Advisory Board.
鈥淭his distinguished professorship will be a valuable asset to our college as we strive to elevate our already high standards for our faculty and their instruction of our students,鈥 Dr. Mickey Hepner, dean of the APSU College of Business, said. 鈥淲e appreciate this investment from Mr. and Mrs. Robichaux, and we are proud that they have chosen to continue Dr. Grimmett鈥檚 legacy in this way.鈥
鈥淭here is no doubt that high-quality, motivated faculty members are 鈥榯he engine鈥 of any collegiate institution, and we are delighted to be able to contribute to the College of Business鈥檚 faculty recruitment and retention efforts,鈥 Mr. Robichaux said.
Their gift will be used to establish the permanently endowed professorship to recruit and retain high-quality, teaching-oriented faculty in the APSU College of Business. The recipient鈥檚 primary teaching course load and research focus will be in finance and/or business analytics. This will be a term professorship awarded for three years. Recipients may receive the award for multiple terms, and it will be used for a salary stipend and for support of teaching and research.
Throughout his career, Dr. David R. Grimmett made many contributions to Austin Peay, the APSU College of Business and to the many students who benefited immeasurably from his efforts. From the day Grimmett joined the APSU College of Business faculty in 1983, he was a consistent champion for academic rigor and a tireless advocate for student research. Grimmett encouraged students to expand their quantitative business skills and to embrace the myriad of opportunities for bringing quantitative methods and approaches to solving complex business problems. First and foremost, Grimmett was determined that his graduating students would possess the tools and mindset necessary to succeed in a modern, complex business environment. It is his focus on teaching, academic excellence and student inspiration that serves as the foundation for this permanently endowed professorship that is established in his name.
鈥淭he APSU College of Business continues to reach new levels of excellence,鈥 APSU President Mike Licari said. 鈥淭his distinguished professorship will encourage both faculty and students to work for new achievements and to enhance the local and national influence of this college by producing graduates who are well-equipped to thrive in the modern business landscape.鈥
Endowments are permanently restricted funds managed by the Austin Peay State University Foundation. The amount of each scholarship award may vary and will be determined based upon the value of the endowment and the Foundation spending plan.
