About Dr. Mike Licari

Dr. Mike Licari is Austin Peay State University’s 11th president and began his tenure on March 1, 2021. Since then, the university has opened several new facilities and academic programs, secured the largest gift in its history, joined a new athletics conference, and strengthened its commitment to military-affiliated students and the local community. The university also developed new mission, vision, and values statements, as well as a new strategic plan. 

Licari’s successful academic career spans over 25 years and four universities, including nearly two decades as a classroom professor. He has also served in university leadership positions at all levels.

A Minnesota native, Licari earned his Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Minnesota, then his Master of Arts in political science and Ph.D. in political science with a focus on public administration from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

The Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce has proudly served Clarksville-Montgomery County for 115 years. Since 1905, countless volunteers have pursued a common mission: to enhance the quality of life for Clarksville residents by promoting business and economic development and represent the interests of chamber membership.
