Austin Peay welcomes New York Times Margaret Renkl to campus to read from her new book, and the women’s tennis team starts its fall schedule with a home invitational.
Margaret Renkl to read from new book
As part of the Zone 3 Reading series, Margaret Renkl will visit APSU to read from her new book, Late Migrations: A Natural History of Love and Loss, on Wednesday, Sept. 11. The reading will take place at 8 p.m. in Room 120 of the Art & Design building. A reception and book signing will follow the event.
Renkl is a contributing opinion writer for The New York Times, where her essays appear each Monday. Her work has also appeared in Guernica, Literary Hub, Oxford American and River Teeth, among others. A graduate of Auburn University and the University of South Carolina, she lives in Nashville. The New Gallery presents Susan Bryant’s humanature
The New Gallery, with support from the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts and the APSU Department of Art + Design, opened its 2019-2020 exhibition season with humanature: new works by Susan Bryant.
The exhibition features several bodies of work developed over recent years and is a celebration of Bryant’s recent retirement from Austin Peay, where she spent the last 37 years as a professor of art.
The exhibit runs through Sept. 20. Bryant will give a public lecture on her work at 6 p.m. Sept. 12 with a reception the following day at noon. All events are free and open to the public. The New Gallery is open 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday.
Bryant also is honoring the work of all her students with “Reciprocity: 37 Years of APSU Student Photographers,” which runs through Sept. 13 just outside The New Gallery.

Morgan University Center first-floor open house
All first-floor offices will be open from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at the Morgan University Center. Free food and drinks. Three prizes including an Apple Watch.

Women’s tennis launch season with fall invitational
The Ohio Valley Conference champion women’s tennis team kicks off its fall schedule by hosting the APSU Fall Invitational Friday and Saturday, Sept. 13-14, on campus. Visit for more information.
Women’s soccer hosts Evansville
The soccer team will take on the Evansville Aces at noon Sunday, Sept. 15. Visit for more information.
