Master of Arts in History
The Department of History & Philosophy offers two options for pursuing a Master of Arts degree in History – a non-thesis option requiring 30 hours, and a thesis option requiring 36 hours. Both options require the student choose a Guided Elective Primary and a Secondary Field. The student must choose from three options for their fields – Military History, U.S. History, or World History.
The History program is offered through the APSU Clarksville Campus and admits for all terms. This degree may be completed online or on campus.
When looking at the course requirements be sure to find the concentration you are looking to study. Concentrations in addition to the general concentration for the History (M.A.) include: Military History, U.S. History and World History.
Students who pursue the History Minor can study US and non-US history. Upper-division history courses have a low student-to-faculty ratio, providing students with close interactions with their professors. History is key to understanding the human condition because historical knowledge is a fundamental element of any culture.
The Department of History and Philosophy requires 21 hours for the completion of a minor in History.
