Academic Suspension at Austin Peay State University (APSU) is a mandatory break period from studies that occurs when a student's academic performance consistently falls below university standards. This status is implemented after a student has been on academic probation and continues to maintain both an overall and semester GPA below the required threshold.

Types of Academic Suspension

First Academic Suspension

• Duration: One academic semester

• Example: If suspended after Fall 2023, the earliest return is Summer 2024

• Options:

  • Successfully appeal (requires completed PASS 0900 course)

  • Serve the suspension period

Second Academic Suspension

• Duration: One academic calendar year

• Example: If suspended after Fall 2023, the earliest return is Spring 2025

• Options:

  • Successfully appeal (requires completed PASS 0900 course)

  • Serve the suspension period

Indefinite Academic Suspension

• Duration: Minimum one academic calendar year before appeal eligibility

• Example: If suspended after Fall 2023, the earliest appeal opportunity is Spring 2025

• Options:

  • Successfully appeal (requires completed PASS 0900 course)

  • Serve the suspension period
