About Us

Allie Johnston
Writing Center Director
Dr. Johnston joined APSU in the Fall of 2021. She first learned of writing centers as a college freshman and has been able to work in a total of four centers (Lipscomb University, the University of Alabama, the University of Tennessee, and now APSU)! Dr. Johnston loves being outside (preferably by a body of water), going to yoga classes, and reading. She looks forward to seeing you in the writing center!

Assistant Director (Grad Student)
Hey y’all, my name is Kayah! I am pursuing a Master’s degree in English Creative Writing as the first step to becoming a creative writing professor. I like reading contemporary fiction, watching video essays, making fiber arts projects, gaming, and writing poetry! My goal is to help students leave the center feeling more confident in their writing journey, even if it’s only by a little bit. I look forward to meeting all of you!

Hi friends! My name is Gaybreala, but Bree for short! I’m a wife and a mom to two amazing little boys named Kristopher and Kellen! I am getting my Masters in English-Creative Writing. I received my bachelors degree from Western Governors University in Elementary Education. I am currently a high school English teacher! Once I complete my program, my goal is to go on to publish scholarly articles as well as a book or two. I can’t wait to work with you this year!

I’ve moved around a lot but have lived in Clarksville since 2020, and in my free time I enjoy doing art, playing DnD, and hanging out with friends. Writing can always be improved, so never feel nervous or embarrassed to make an appointment! Hey everyone! My name is Cameron, I use they/them pronouns, and I'm a senior majoring in English with a minor in Classical Languages. In the future, I hope to get an MA in either Classics or English Literature, leading to a PhD! In addition to the Writing Center, I also work as a novel editor, and the longest novel I've ever worked on was over 800 pages.
As a die-hard grammarian, I love breaking down sentence structures and explaining
the concepts to help students better understand paragraph construction.

Hi! My name is Winter, and I use she/her and they/them pronouns. I have been a tutor at the APSU Writing Center since my Freshman year; I am a senior now! I come from a military background that has moved me around from Ohio to Texas, Virginia, Colorado, Hawai’i, and now, Tennessee. I am an RA, the Poetry Editor for Zone 3 Journal, and a member of the Alpha line of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Inc., the first multicultural Greek organization at APSU. I hope to get an MFA in Creative Writing, then possibly a PhD, and teach Creative Writing courses at the university level while publishing my own creative and professional work. I look forward to getting to know students through their writing and having a good time collaborating with students to brainstorm, improve, or reconceptualize any work that they bring in!
