Career opportunities abound for those with a degree in English. Skills gained in this area of study can be easily applied to many career areas, as employers desire employees who can think clearly and critically, analyze, interpret data, and communicate results.

If you desire to teach, the combination of an English major and professional education minor will prepare you to pursue teaching licensure. Pair an English major with a minor in technical writing to prepare for careers in technical or professional writing, which entails developing information related to software, electronics, equipment and procedures. Technical writing is a great subject for students planning careers that require writing, editing, creating web pages, translating or illustrating.

World Language Majors

Majoring in a World Language will prepare you for a global job market.

Pair your study of World Language with a major or minor in Business to prepare to work abroad or for an international company.

You can expand your career opportunities by taking two years of World Language and/or participating in a study abroad program. World language requirements are included in our Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) programs, and  are available to all student.
